MARGAO: One Baburao Umanna Mirashi who was arrested in a mobile phone theft case escaped from the custody of a constable on Thursday, when he was being taken to Colvale jail.
Margao Town Police Inspector C L Patil has informed that the Constable Vishal Desai from Margao is to be blamed for the incident.
Margao Police had arrested Mirashi, a 39-year-old Belgaum resident, from the Konkan Railway Station on Wednesday and later recovered the stolen mobile phone from him.
The instrument belonging to one Imtiaz Ahmed from Margao was reportedly stolen from his work place at a designer shop in Margao.
