MARGAO: Officials of the legal metrology on Tuesday raided a mobile phone shop in the commercial capital, and seized phones worth Rs 3.5 lakh.
Legal Metrology Inspector Arun Panchwadkar told the media that they received a complaint stating that the mobile units were displaying two MRPs in violation of the norms.
He said though the owner maintained that he has not altered the rates, neither the distributor nor the retailer has the power to make changes in the rates.
“Since the retail owner could not give out a satisfactory explanation, we decided to seize the phones amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh,” he added.
