VASCO: The commandoes of the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) on Tuesday conducted a mock drill to ensure the safety of ballot boxes to be stored at the Ravindra Bhavan in Baina, and at Margao.
Police sources said that the drill was conducted by the commandos to practice room intervention at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, and at the South Goa Collectorate, Margao, in the presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and staff.
Similar exercises will be conducted at all other talukas where ballot boxes for the panchayat elections will be stored in strong rooms, and also at the counting centres in the event that an attack takes place.
Mock drills help the ATS Commandos understand the topography, entry and exit points and survey the building structure, in case there is a crisis at the strong rooms or the counting centres.
