Panjim: Observing the ongoing trend, it is now amply clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is returning to his South Block office for yet another term. Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange has also reacted sharply on this trend and has crossed 40000-mark. Soon after the trends started showing, the Sensex shot up by over 900 points.
Political pundits are now predicting that with its allies, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to win over 330 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha. In the last 2014 election, the NDA had 336 seats while BJP had 282 members.
The major shift in favour of NDA was seen in West Bengal. In 2014 BJP had won two seats and this year it is gunning for 15 seats at least. Similarly the saffron party has also showing signs of gaining in Odisha. However, all eyes are on Amethi, the Congress bastion for decades where Congress President Rahul Gandhi is contesting against BJP’s firebrand leader Smriti Irani. At the moment it seems Amethi is witnessing a sea-saw battle.
In the 2014 elections, Rahul Gandhi of Congress won Amethi by defeating Smriti Irani by a margin of 1,07,903 votes.
