PANJIM: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled next year, Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi is slated to address a public meeting in Goa in the first week of December, as part of the 100 meetings planned across the country.
The decision was taken during the core committee meeting chaired by senior party leader Venkaiah Naidu, who is in Goa to take stalk of election campaign for the polls. The meeting was attended by senior office bearers including Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Around one lakh workers are expected to attend it, BJP state president Vinay Tendulkar said. “Goa has always been lucky for Modiji and BJP,” he said.
This would be the first meeting of Modi in Goa after his name was announced as the BJP’s PM candidate.
The senior party leader has been holding a series of rallies across the country, including the ones at Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu, where over 1.20 lakh people attended the meeting.
Tendulkar said that the meeting took stock of the preparations for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls in both the constituencies of the state. He said that details of Modi’s meeting are yet to be finalized.
“We are yet to decide whether the meeting would be held in North or South,” he added.
Modi’s selection as a campaign in-charge for the party was held in Goa during its national executive held in May, earlier this year.
Thereafter, Modi had addressed a public meeting at Taleigao, which was his first meeting after becoming the in-charge.
The meeting also resolved to hold conventions of Scheduled Tribe and Kissan Morcha, to focus on issues related to the community. The state unit will also hold booth level meetings across the state.
