Modi tries to impress with Konkani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to win Goan hearts on Wednesday by starting his address to the large gathering in Konkani.
“Saglya Goemkarank maye mogacho yevkar,” Modi said to a huge round of applause from the crowd. Further, giving a call to the gathering to repeat after him, main bhi chowkidar, Modi took everyone by surprise when he spoke many words and sentences in Konkani.
“Gavan Gavani aasa Chowkidar, Shahar shaharani aasa Chowkidar, Bhurgi bala….Chowkidar, aayo-bhainee…chowkidar, ghara gharani aasa chowkidar, Baag bagani aasat chowkidar, shetan-khalani aasat chowkidar, nuste-kavle…chowkidar, desha bhitar…chowkidar, shimmer aasat….chowkidar, doctor-engineer…chowkidar, shikshak pradhyapak…chowkidar, lekhak patrakar…chowkidar, shetkar posarkar…chowkidar, vidyarthi bhi …chowkidar,” he said.
Thereafter Modi went on to say that he has a special bond with Goa. “Goa has been a turning point for me, it was here that I was made the election campaign manager and sometime later announced PM candidate, and hence there is emotional bonding with Goa,” he said.
He added, “Today as I come here, I want to say… in the last five years whatever I have done is due to your blessings.”
