Provided the facilities are exclusively for ports and harbor infrastructure. This means that the marina projects proposed in Goa will not require Environment Clearance (EC) from MoEF.
Goa government’s Investment Promotion Board (IPB) has ‘in-principle’ approved two marinas in the State – Yacht Haven Goa Marina in Sancoale and Kargwal Marina at Nauxi, Bambolim. The Rs 450 crore projects aim to promote tourism and expand port infrastructure.
In a letter to the Joint Secretary, Union Ministry for Shipping, MoEF has said that the CRZ notification 2011 permits construction of foreshore facilities like ports, harbours, jetties, marinas, dry-docks, shipbuilding yards, ship repair yards, etc.
“These foreshore facilities are permissible under CRZ notification 2011, provided these facilities are exclusively for ports and harbour infrastructure,” said Bishwanath Sinha said.
