PANJIM: Former Louis Berger International vice president Satyakam Mohanty was released on conditional bail on Monday. He is the only one among those arrested to be released on bail. The special court imposed pre-release conditions such as a bail bond of Rs one lakh with one solvent surety, and has asked him to report to the investigation team as and when called, not to leave Goa for one month without obtaining permission from the court, and to stay away from either directly or indirectly interfering with the ongoing probe and witnesses/persons acquainted with the matter.
Mohanty is among seven persons whose statements were recorded before the judicial magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. During his bail argument, the former LB official had denied the criminal conspiracy charge levelled by Crime Branch claiming he could be a crucial witness to the case, and that he quit from the company in 2012 ‘out of frustration on being sidelined for every project’.
