MAPUSA: The issue of migrant influx dominated the gram sabha proceedings of the Moira panchayat on Sunday.
The locals voiced their concern over the increase in migrants in the village raising fears of criminal activities in village in future.
Following discussions on the above issue, the panchayat directed the villagers to maintain the details and identify of the tenants residing in their premises.
Sarpanch Riya Belekar called upon the people to submit details of their tenants to the panchayat.
The locals demanded that stenographer be appointed to note down the discussion of every meeting and document the same.
People alleged that Swatchh Bharat campaign has remained just on paper and nobody is serious on implementing it. Heaps of garbage are seen dumped at each corner of the village. However, the sarpanch said that the people have to dump their garbage at specific location, which will be later disposed of by the panchayat.
The other issue discussed at the sabha was non-functioning of LED lights. To this, the panchayat informed the people that they can call on a toll free number 1912 and complain about their grievances regarding the LED lights.
The locals demanded a solution to the stray dog menace as there were several dog-bite incidents reported in the village.
