MARGAO: After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted a letter for closure of the case against former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco, the JMFC Court has ordered the closure of the money laundering case against him on Friday.
The matter was heard by JMFC Pooja Sardesai and on Friday the Court pronounced the order.
Meanwhile, the application of Mickky for release of his seized articles has also been allowed and ordered to be released by the Sessions Court.
The case pertains to the money laundering and human trafficking case of 2010 against Mickky after which there were several raids by the CBI and I-T. Mickky was accused of money laundering and immigration racket in 2010 after which he had stepped down as a minister.
After a detailed investigation, the CBI had moved an application for closing of the case saying that it did not find any evidence against Mickky of money laundering and immigration racket.
Addressing a press conference, Mickky said, “What goes around comes around. Both the BJP as well as the Congress put me in trouble and the closure of the case is proof of tyranny by the government.”
“In the last eight years I suffered a lot. My business was paralyzed. I gave up my citizenship of USA,” said Mickky.
Mocking the BJP government, Mickky said, “This government sends me notices of tax default for Rs 13.46 crore wealth when all my wealth has been frozen. All are political motivated cases may it be Congress or BJP.”
On his political future, Mickky said, “In the next election, Mickky will be in Goa assembly and will be elected from Benaulim constituency.”
When asked whether he was open to joining the Congress, he said, “If they want, let them approach me. Mickky has enough power to bring Congress back to power.”
