MARGAO: While unveiling the disaster management preparedness plan ahead of the monsoon season, South Goa District Collector Asvin Chandru emphasized on the greater need for coordination and quick response plans to meet emergencies that may arise during the monsoon.
Deliberations have been held among the authorities in South Goa to bolster the district administration’s disaster management capacities and strategies.
Chandru, who also serves as the chairperson of the South Goa District Disaster Management Authority, instructed the police and fisheries department to prepare all necessary infrastructure for potential rescue operations. Additionally, the Water Resources Department (WRD) has been directed to ensure that seven cyclone shelters in South Goa are ready ahead of the monsoon season.
These directives were issued during a meeting chaired by the Collector, which included officials from various departments and representatives from organizations involved in disaster management, focusing on effective monsoon preparedness.
“Coordination between various departments and authorities is crucial for effective disaster preparedness and response,” Chandru emphasized.
