PONDA: Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) Chairperson Radhika Naik said the council has completed pre-monsoon works in some wards, while work in others wards will be completed by June 15.
Speaking to Herald, Naik admitted that pre-monsoon works had been “slightly delayed” due to the recent election code of conduct.
“PMC has completed pre-monsoon works in eight wards by engaging municipal labourers, while for the remaining six wards, the tender has been awarded to a contractor from Sanvordem due to shortage of time and workers with the PMC,” she added.
“The work is likely to be completed by June 15. PMC has also undertaken the work to de-silt the Nullahs, wherever the machine can be deployed. In some Nullahs in the municipality, a JCB cannot be deployed due to lack of access and growing number of constructions along the banks of the Nullah,” she said.
“One such Nullah is behind the PMC market, where it is difficult to deploy a machine. Hence, the PMC will ask the PWD minister to provide a small machine to de-silt such nullahs,” said Naik.
