PANJIM: With the summer spell at its peak, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday informed that the temperatures are expected to rise in the next few days.
IMD also said that the monsoon is expected to arrive in Goa on June 7 and will be normal this year.
On Wednesday, the State witnessed maximum temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius which in the next few days is expected to rise a little above 35 degrees.
Speaking to Herald, IMD-Director M L Sahu said, “Today the State witnessed temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius and in the next few days the temperature may rise a few points above this. No heat wave is predicted and in Goa a heat wave does not occur.”
He said, “The reason for the rise in temperature at present is because of the northerly winds from Rajasthan that are blowing across which adds to the temperature. Monsoon is expected to arrive in the State by June 7 with the season being normal.”
“Light rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over North Goa and South Goa districts of the State in the next 24 hours. Weather is very likely to be dry over north Goa and south Goa districts of the State on subsequent three days.”
