Month-long Tiger Census 2022 from March 28

PANJIM: A month-long Tiger Census 2022 in Goa’s wild will begin from March 28 and will be carried out in three phases. 

In the first phase, which will commence from March 28, the Forest Department will undertake survey to count herbivores and carnivores presence in State wild.

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (APCCF) Santosh Kumar said emphasis is being laid on the enumeration of carnivorous and herbivorous wildlife. 

In the second phase, scientific study of GIS map will be done and in the third phase that will commence from April 5 photographs of tiger will be taken by placing camera traps in the forest areas.

The camera traps will be laid till April 29, Kumar said.
