PANJIM: The Mopa Farmers Committee on Friday protested against the alleged unfair practices by the State government with regard to the manner in which their land was acquired for a road to the Greenfield airport.
While speaking to media persons, the farmer group said that they will not give their land to the government until they are given proper compensation for the land. They added that the market price of the land in Dhargal is eight times higher than what has been offered to them and that this is a form of injustice meted out to them as they are the ones who are displaced and are staring at an uncertain future because of this. They have vowed to continue their protests until their demands are met with.
The farmers had earlier demanded cancellation of the link road to Mopa airport claiming that the road is planned for the aero city for which the government has given around 16 lakh sqmt land.
