Mopa land losers to get govt certificate within a month: MLA

The meeting also discussed the taxi issues and the chief minister assured that locals, especially land losers would be given preference to operate taxis at the airport.

PERNEM: People who sacrificed their land for the Mopa Greenfield airport will be issued a land loser’s certificate within a month, said Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar on Tuesday.

Arlekar informed that people who have donated their land for the Mopa airport will get a land loser’s certificate which would be a proof that they were the land losers and said this certificate can be used by the future generation for employment purpose.

The MLA informed that a special meeting was held by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant with officials, panchayat members from Mopa and surrounding villages at the Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim. The meeting was to discuss issues pertaining to land acquisition, employment opportunities for local youth and business opportunities associated with the airport project.

The meeting was also attended by the North Goa Collector Mamu Hage, GMR CEO R V Sheshan and govt officials.

During this meeting, the CM directed the District Collector to issue certificates to those whose land had been acquired for the airport project.

The meeting also discussed the taxi issues and the chief minister assured that locals, especially land losers would be given preference to operate taxis at the airport.

Sawant also directed the GMR officials to give all the panchayats a detailed description of various jobs to be created at the Mopa airport site after it is commissioned.

Arlekar informed that he has requested for special lawyers to help the land losers in getting the documents ready.
