Mopa Police Arrest Suspect in Sexual Assault Case on School Girl

Mopa Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with the sexual assault on a school girl. The accused is currently in police custody, facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and Information Technology Act.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the individual under sections 363 (kidnapping), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 376 (sexual assault), and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the IPC. Additionally, charges have been brought under 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, Section 4, 8, 12 of the POCSO Act, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.

The accused had allegedly used a mobile phone to send obscene messages to the victim, and law enforcement has successfully seized the device as part of the ongoing investigation. Alongside this, the white Wagon R car reportedly used in the commission of the crime has also been confiscated by the police.

Senior Deputy Police Officer (SDPO) Pernem, Jivba Dalvi, revealed that due to the accused’s attempts to destroy evidence from his mobile phone, Section 201 of the IPC, relating to the destruction of evidence, has been added to the charges.

In an effort to gather crucial evidence, the Mopa Police sought the expertise of the Forensic Science Team from Verna, Goa. The scientific experts have played a vital role in aiding the investigation process.

The case is currently under the thorough investigation of Police Inspector Narayan A. Chimulkar of Mopa Airport Police Station, overseen by SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi and Superintendent of Police North, Akshat Kaushal IPS Porvorim. The collaborative efforts of law enforcement and forensic experts aim to ensure a comprehensive inquiry into the matter, bringing justice to the victim and holding the perpetrator accountable for their actions.
