PANJIM: Mopa Police on Friday seized illegal liquor worth Rs 56,400 being transported to Maharashtra.
According to the police, staff of Mopa Airport Police Station at early morning intercepted an SUV being driven by one Rony Fernandes (45) hailing from Kankavali, Maharashtra.
Rony Fernandes was travelling from Patradevi to Kankavali via Banda when liquor bottles were allegedly found inside the vehicle.
The liquor was found to be of various brands measuring 191 litres, police said, adding the SUV has been handed over to Excise Inspector, Excise Department, Pernem, to take further legal necessary action..
The Mopa Police team was led by PI Narayan Chimulkar under supervision of Pernem SDPO Jivba Dalvi and SP North Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
