Mopa taxi operators serve ultimatum to govt

To stage demonstration if demand for blue taxi stand not fulfilled

PERNEM: A group of more than 87 taxi operators have rallied together to demand the establishment of a permanent blue taxi stand and the long-awaited approval of their permits.

Expressing their frustrations, the protestors have turned to the government for justice, pressing for clarity on their standing and the status of their pending permits.

They are urging both the government and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to provide definitive answers regarding the approval of their permits.

The protestors recounted assurances from local members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and ministers, who pledged to address the issue. However, they also expressed skepticism due to past instances where promises were made and went unfulfilled.

The taxi operators have set a timeline of four days, during which they await official communication from the authorities regarding their demands. If this notice does not materialise, the protestors have issued a warning that they will stage a demonstration at Mopa, as a sign of their discontent and to assert their rights.

This concerted effort by the taxi operators highlights their determination to secure a stable blue taxi stand at Mopa, and the resolution of their pending permit issues. It underscores the urgency of a clear response from the government and the RTO to quell their concerns and prevent potential disruptions.
