Morjim: Residents of Gaudewada in Morjim on Saturday gathered outside a hotel located in the ward and raised their voice against the loud music party being held in totally violation of Covid norms.
The locals contacted the Pernem police about the party but before the Pernem police team headed by PI Vikram Naik reached the spot the music was stopped and the electricity of the hotel shut down.
Locals alleged that someone may have informed the hotel operator about the police complain and hence the music was stooped before the police could arrive at the hotel.
The locals said that when the party was ongoing few locals along with president of noise prevention committee entered the hotel premises witnessed over 500 people attending the party without face masks and in total violation of Social distancing norm.
It was also learnt that no provision was made to check if the people attending the party were having a Covid negative certificate.
A local said, “Despite several complaints filed against loud music parties, till date the authorities have failed to initiate any action. People here are suffering because of loud music since this particular hotel is located in the residential area”.
Another local said, “as there is no private parking space for the hotel, tourists park their vehicles on the road causing inconvenience and when questioned the hotel staff say that no one can do anything to them. If this continues then we will be forced to come on the streets,” he said.
