PERNEM: Residents of Morjim, along the Chapora River, are up in arms about the constant disturbance caused by loud music emanating from a restaurant/club near Chapora jetty. The villagers, including locals running guest houses, have written an email to the Director General of Police (DGP) Goa, seeking prompt action to address this ongoing issue.
According to the email, on Monday night, the said establishment initiated music at 10 pm, which grew louder by 2 am. Frustrated by the disturbance, residents dialled the emergency number (112) around 2.30 am, and the volume was finally lowered, with the music completely stopping only at 3 am.
The villagers emphasized that this has become a recurring problem, particularly pointing out a specific restaurant/club located on the bank of Chapora jetty, near the school, which organizes outdoor parties, causing the music to reach unbearable levels across the river.
The affected residents, including children who have to wake up early for school, expressed their frustration in the email, highlighting the regularity of having to call the emergency number to curb the disturbance and ensure a peaceful night’s sleep. They earnestly requested the DGP to take decisive action against the club responsible for the loud music, in the hope that their children and the entire community can enjoy a restful and undisturbed night’s sleep.
