PERNEM: Villagers of Pernem, Mandrem, Siolim and Morjim strongly criticised the State government over the Regional Plan 2021 saying it will help outsiders and not locals.
A meeting on sustainable development recently organised at Morjim saw a large number of people finding fault with it.
“The government has prepared the Regional Plan 2021, which will benefit Delhiites more and not locals. The locals will be thrown out of their own villages once these outsiders start coming in,” Congress vice-president Babi Bagkar said.
He said the proposed Regional Plan will destroy fields, forests and villages and even areas under CRZ have been shown under settlement. “It is time for Goans to wake up and save their identity for the sake of future generations,” Bagkar stated.
