Morjim postmaster held for cheating investors

PERNEM: The Pernem police detected an alleged cheating case of Post Office Morjim and arrested the absconding Branch postmaster.

According to information obtained from Pernem police station, on Augutst 4 the police register an offence upon the complaint of Inspector of Posts, Mapusa against accused Narayan Chandrakant Bhage, resident of Talavane, Sawantwadi, who while working in the capacity of branch post master of Morjim branch post office accepted the cash amount from various depositors/public members total amounting to 

Rs 8.37 lakh and did not credited the same to their respective accounts for the period between August 1, 2021 to February 7 this year.

In this connection, the accused was booked under Section 409, 420 IPC.

PI Pernem informed that after committing the offence, the accused person was absconding and different teams were formed to trace the accused person, with the help of electronic and technical surveillance, he was apprehended at Border Check Post and thoroughly interrogated.

The Entire Operation was led by PSI Navneet Goltekar assisted by PC Premnath Sawaldesai, PC Prajyot Mayekar, PC- Sagar Khorjuvekar, of Pernem Police Station, with the technical assistance of H C Harishchandra Palyekar of Call Monitoring Centre North, Porvorimn Goa under the supervision of PI Pernem Sachin B Lokre.
