PANJIM: The North Goa Additional Sessions Court has granted bail to 32-year-old Kashinath Dhumaskar from Morjim in an alleged rape case filed against him by the victim’s brother.

Dhumaskar has been released on bail on personal bond of Rs 50,000 with conditions that he will cooperate in the investigation and will not indulge in directly or indirectly influencing or threatening the victim or complainant or the witnesses. The accused has been asked to surrender his passport within 7 days and not to leave the State without Court’s permission .
The order has been pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge Vijaya D Pol. The victim and the accused knew each other for a long time and were together.
The accused was arrested on June 6, 2014 under Sections 341, 342, 376, 506 (ii) of IPC and Sub Section 66 (E) of Information and Technology Act. The complaint has stated that “on May 25, the accused took the victim to hotel at Carambolim, and wrongfully confined her, stripped her clothes forcibly, fondled with her private parts without her consent and captured her images and threatened her by saying that he will post them on social networking site thereby defacing her social image”.
Advocate Menino appearing on behalf of the accused brought to the notice of the Court that a false complaint of rape was filed by the victim’s brother, who was forced to give false statement as she did not want to continue her relationship with the accused.
