Morjim villagers raise voice against mobile billboard vans advertising rave parties

PERNEM: Mobile billboard vans advertising rave parties came in for severe criticism at the Morjim gram sabha with villagers saying it was both a nuisance and eyesore.

Members stated that six months ago, Sarpanch Surekha Shetgaonkar had initiated action against illegal party banners displayed by the roadside and now demanded that the panchayat take a similar drive against the mobile billboards.

“I have informed Pernem police and the Public Works Department regarding the same who have assured me of taking action against such mobile billboard  advertisements,” said   sarpanch Mukesh Gadekar.

“Some of the organisers have put up promotional advertisements in the place of banners which were removed six months ago. None of these organisers obtain NOC from the panchayat and so, we lose out on revenue. Even the mobile vans with billboard advertisements have not obtained NOCs from the panchayat. Stern action should be taken against such violators,” said local Rajan Shetgaonkar.

Meanwhile, members brought it to the notice of the panchayat that despite being a silent zone, Morjim continues to be one of the nosiest places in Goa.
