PERNEM: Even as the government makes tall claims of providing 16,000 litres of free water and proudly earning the distinction of becoming the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ State in the country as it provides 100 per cent functional household tap connections (FHTCs) in the rural areas, a village in Morjim has run out of water post-Ganesh Chaturthi despite paying regular bills to the PWD.
Residents of Warchadwada, Morijim say that taps have run dry in the village after Ganesh Chaturthi and several complaints to the PWD and other departments for the last fortnight have yielded no results. There are over 50 households in this area and some villagers said that sometimes water trickles for about half an hour while there are others who have not seen a drop flowing from their taps for the last 15 days.
Locals informed the Herald that houses along the lower level receive very little water on alternate days. However, the houses which are located at a height are really hit hard.
