Mormugao chairperson quits

Ward XVI Councillor Girish Borkar is now tipped to be the new chairperson

VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Leo Rodrigues resigned from the post, on Monday. 

In his resignation letter submitted to the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA), Rodrigues said that he took the decision to quit as per the mutual understanding among the ruling councillors and the BJP. He occupied the post for one-year.

Rodrigues thanked all the councillors and the BJP leaders for reposing their faith in him and giving him an opportunity to serve as the municipal chairperson. 

He said that during his tenure, he ensured that there was development in all the 25 wards and mentioned about the construction of new Vasco fish market and the Baina Power House projects. 

He also recalled the anti- encroachment drive undertaken in the vegetable and fruit markets and clearing of abandoned vehicles from the port town to decongest the roads.
