VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Girish Borker has appealed to the people not to approach agents and to contact municipal office directly for any works related to the municipality.
Borker warned that he would initiate stern action if any person was found indulging in malpractices or misdeeds thereby cheating people by claiming to be municipality’s agents.
Borker stated this following a report on social media alleged scam where money was taken from a senior citizen and he was provided with the fake receipt of house tax payment by a person, who claimed to be an agent of the Mormugao Municipal Council.
Borker appealed to the public to avoid any agent and approach the municipal council officials directly instead. The municipal council will not allow or tolerate any agents who are offering to help citizens with payments or filling up of forms for money.
Borker further urged the people facing any sort of difficulty, to approach him, the chief officer or the municipal staff directly.
