Mormugao civic body gears up to digitise various documents, records

Chairperson said that digitisation will help the council to keep all its old records and other documents safe

VASCO: The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has undertaken the process of the digitisation of various documents and old municipal records.

MMC Chairperson Damodar Kaskar on Tuesday said that the council in its recently held meeting approved a resolution to digitise its old records by engaging an agency. It was decided to appoint the Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) to undertake this initiative. 

Kaskar said that digitization will help the council to keep all its old records and other documents safe in computers and it can be made available whenever it is required. He said that digitisation was required since many a times files were not found immediately and the digitisation would make the process easier and safe to locate the files.

The chairperson further informed that the GEL has been given a time-frame to complete this exercise and hoped that ongoing process of digitisation would be completed at the earliest. He further said that once this process is completed, the citizens will also be able to access any old document and file without any hassles.
