Mormugao has taken a major step towards strengthening street animal welfare with the launch of its first-ever Animal Ambulance and Rescue Van by Trailblazer Animal Care Foundation, a citizen-led not-for-profit organisation working in the field of animal care.
The dedicated ambulance, donated by VACman Sanitation Solutions Private Limited, will ensure timely and safe transportation of injured, sick and accident-hit street animals to veterinary facilities, significantly improving emergency response for animals in distress.

The launch ceremony was held at Ravindra Bhavan in Baina and coincided with the completion of two years of Trailblazer’s community-led animal welfare work. The event was attended by Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Girish Borkar, Councillor Deepak Naik and MMC Director Shailesh More. The vehicle was inaugurated and flagged off by VACman Directors Anup Keny and Asha Keny, in the presence of volunteers, citizen donors, animal caregivers and representatives from various Goa-based NGOs.
Founder and Advisory Director Vrinda Agarwal said the ambulance represents a commitment that animals in need will not be left without help. Director Siddhant Shetty added that since operations began on January 20, the ambulance has already assisted more than 50 stray dogs and cats, supporting both medical treatment and ethical birth control initiatives.
The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing animal rescue and welfare services across the Mormugao region.
