“I am very happy to announce that DMA has recently ascertained that MMC is the first civic body in state to have completed all the norms and has achieved all service level benchmarks while utilizing 14th Finance Commission grants. As per DMA, our performance was higher than any other municipal body in state. Therefore, it was announced to us that DMA will give performance grants to the tune of Rs 9.20 crore and the councils that failed to perform, the amount meant for them will then be distributed proportionally among other performing councils” Naik said.
“Once we receive these performance grants then we will decide to take up more constructive works within the council jurisdiction. We will also utilise the grants for Swachh Bharat, livelihood centre, women empowerment and other developmental works,” Naik told.
