VASCO: The newly elected panch members in all six Panchayat (excluding Sancoale) under Mormugao Taluka resolved to solve the garbage menace and said maintaining cleanliness in their respective villages would be their top-most priority.

Similarly Panchayat body would seek cooperation of local MLA Alina Saldanha to ensure that pending work on construction of rail over bridge at Arossim, foot over bridge at Cansaulim railway station etc should commence.
“On Mega Projects, we don’t know what it is, but if it is related to hotel industry then it is coming because property owners are selling their property to such hoteliers. The Government should come out with amendments to see to it that owners should not sell their land to outsiders and only then this will stop otherwise if these hoteliers come to us with all permissions from higher-ups then we are bound to give permission to hotels,” Saldanha said.
Meanwhile, new Sarpanch of Velsao-Pale-Issorcim (VPI) Panchayat Henrique D’ Mello said that besides resolving the garbage issue, he would give priority to make VPI a people-friendly Panchayat and safeguard the village from outsiders menace. “We want to protect the identity of our village, and hence we continue to oppose mega projects. Similarly we would like to request the government to accept our proposal and declare VPI village as traditional fishing village” D’Mello said.
The newly elected Sarpanch and deputy Sarpanch from Quelossim Panchayat requested the state government to provide required basic infrastructure facilities to this new village on priority. “Though we have got new Panchayat, but there is no staff appointed. Hence we would like to request the government to provide the same on war footing so that we can start functioning. Also we would revoke all the permissions given by earlier Panchayat in our village including permission given to Mini India project” said new Deputy Sarpanch Sebastiao Serrao.
Sebastiao Pereira, the new Sarpanch from Chicalim village also promised to strive hard in making Chicalim village garbage-free and model village in Goa. He said that the new Panchayat body would continue to oppose Marina’s and casinos in River Zuari and would take all possible development in the village with the blessings of local MLA Mauvin Godinho.
Newly elected Deputy Sarpanch of Chicolna-Bogmalo Panchayat Claudio D’Cruz said that they would work hard to fulfill the long pending football ground dream of villagers. He said that other basic tourist infrastructure facilities at Bogmalo are under construction and the same would be reality soon.
Cortalim Sarpanch Sania Barreto and Deputy Sarpanch Raymond De Sa said that they would continue to oppose shifting of casinos in River Zuari and would support the people in their decision on Marinas.
