Mosque panel urges police to speed up probe into body theft

BICHOLIM: A Sanquelim a mosque committee on Thursday held a special meeting to discuss the issue of theft of a dead from a grave in the local kabristan.

BICHOLIM: A Sanquelim a mosque committee on Thursday held a special meeting to discuss the issue of theft of a dead from a grave in the local kabristan.
The committee passed a resolution at the meeting requesting the authorities to speed up the investigation.
The meeting was attended by around 500 people. The committee had invited for the meeting, candidates who had contested the recent elections from Sanquelim, namely, Sanquelim Municipal Council Chairman Dharmesh Saglani, Dr Suresh Amonkar, Pratap Gawas and Pravin Blegan.
On the occasion, Pravin Blegan announced Rs 1clakh reward to anyone who solves the mystery or gives some information about the issue. He told that it would be the work of some locals who are well aware about the kabristan and that there would be at least three to four persons involved in the crime.
Saglani said that the municipality has received Rs 20 lakh from MP fund and some of it would be utilised for installing CCTV camera in the kabristan. “We would also come up with fencing and a gate for the kabristan in near future,” Saglani said.
GMS candidate and ex-health minister Dr Suresh Amonkar claimed that such things are bad for society and asked everyone to be alert. 
The NCP candidate and ex-Sanquelim MLA, Pratap Gawas, stated that it was a bad news and the police should investigate the matter.Mosque committee President Anwar Khan urged the police to question the persons who do black magic in Bicholim, Sanquelim and Valpoi. It may be recalled that one Abdul Karim Akhtar (56) died of natural causes on February 22.
