Most of 92 properties allegedly forged are from North Goa

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has already announced that all the transactions done about these properties fraudulently will be cancelled and there won’t be any mutations or registrations of these properties in the future

PANJIM: Most of the 92 properties which have been allegedly forged and transferred by the accused are from the North Goa district mostly in Bardez taluka, details of which will be made available in the public domain in a day or two.

In a bid to stop land grabbing by fraudulent means, the State government is now contemplating bringing an amendment to the Land Act to take over ‘no man’s properties in the State. The SIT has so far traced 92 properties which have been allegedly forged by the accused as their original owners are not residing in Goa.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has already announced that all the transactions done about these properties fraudulently will be cancelled and there won’t be any mutations or registrations of these properties in the future. He had also requested those who had purchased these properties to approach the respective District Magistrates.

Sources said that majority of the identified properties are based in the Bardez taluka. The SIT is also probing into several fresh complaints before registering an FIR while over two dozen cases including the ones transferred from Mapusa Police Station are currently under investigation.
