PERNEM: In an unfortunate incident, a 35-year-old mother namely Ujwala Shetgaonkar has been booked for killing her 6-year-old son at an isolated area of Korgao in Pernem.
Pernem police have booked the woman under Section 302 of IPC.
According to sources, the incident came to light on Saturday afternoon when police reached the spot and saw the lady sitting with her dead son at an isolated area.
Sources said on Saturday morning at around 9 am the accused woman had an altercation with her sister at her mother’s place at Korgao. She then reportedly left her mother’s house still angry after the altercation with her sister.
She was later found with the body of her child at 1.5 km distance from her mother’s house at Korgao.
Sources said the woman is mentally unstable and is undergoing medical treatment. Pernem police have shifted the body of the child to the Goa Medical College Bambolim for post-mortem. The cause of death has not been established since no injury marks were reportedly found on the child’s body.
PI Sandesh Chodankar is further investigating the case.
