PANJIM: Panjim police arrested Geeta Chopra and Anju Chopra,
the mother & daughter duo for allegedly stealing a diamond bangle worth Rs
1.32 lakh from a jewelry showroom in Panjim on Friday. The accused duo hailed
from Delhi. The stolen diamond bangle was recovered from them by the police.
On Friday, a robbery took place at ORRA Showroom Panjim
Goa wherein two unknown women, aged 60 years and 39 years, stole a diamond
bangle weighing 14.14 grams worth Rs 1,32,000. The accused mother and daughter,
with their common intention entered into the ORRA showroom, as customers and on
the pretext of buying diamond bangles from the jewellery shop, kept the
complainant busy in showing other diamond ornaments and in that rush, committed
theft of one diamond bangle from the bangle tray.
Immediately the shop owner lodged a complaint. An
offence vide Crime No. 80/2024 U/sec 380 R/w 34 IPC was registered and
investigation was taken up.
Panjim Police through their meticulous planning and
intelligence collected the information through technical surveillance and CCTV
footage and managed to trace the identity and arrested the accused women. The
stolen item has been recovered to its owner and further investigation is on.
