PANJIM: A mother-daughter duo from Delhi were arrested by the Panjim Police for allegedly robbing a diamond bangle worth Rs 1.32 lakh from a city based jeweller.
According to the police, Santosh Verma, resident of Mapusa, lodged a complaint at at 7.30 pm at a showroom in Panjim, stating that two unknown women entered the showroom posing as customers and on the pretext of buying ornaments, kept the complainant busy and stole a diamond bangle weighing 14.14 grams worth Rs 1.32 lakh.
The police managed to trace the accused Anju Chopra, 39 and Geeta Chopra 60, both natives of Naiwara, Chawri Bazar, Delhi and also managed to recover the stolen diamond bangle from their possession.
An offence under section 380, read with 34, of IPC was registered and investigation taken up. The team which succeeded in cracking the case was led by Panjim PI Vijay Kumar Chodankar.
