MARGAO: A 20-year-old resident of Moital, Shristhal-Canacona was killed in a self-accident after he lost control of his motorbike near Karvem, Gaondongrim, on Sunday night. Two of his friends, who were riding pillion, sustained injuries in the crash.
According to Canacona Police, the victim, identified as Pundalik Laxman Kakade, was riding a motorcycle, with his friends Rohit Naik, 19, from Ponsulem-Canacona, and Ganesh Dodamani, 26, from Shristhal-Moital, Canacona. Kakade was a native of Hubballi, Karnataka.
The incident was reported to the Canacona Health Centre, and preliminary inquiries by the police revealed that the self-accident occurred at the curved road in Karvem. The trio was travelling from Karvem towards Satpal when the motorcycle skidded and veered off the road, ultimately colliding with a tree on the right side.
As a result of the collision, all three riders sustained grievous injuries. Tragically, Pundalik Kakade succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the Canacona Health Centre. A post-mortem examination was conducted on his body, and the doctor certified the cause of death as haemorrhagic shock due to damage to the chest and abdomen resulting from blunt force impact.
The Canacona police visited the accident site and conducted a panchanama. The two-wheeler involved in the accident has been secured as part of the ongoing investigation.
