A motorcyclist died on Christmas Eve following a collisionbetween a Karnataka registered car and a Delhi registered two-wheeler atLoliem on Tuesday evening.

CANACONA: A motorcyclist died on Christmas Eve following a collision
between a Karnataka registered car and a Delhi registered two-wheeler at
Loliem on Tuesday evening.
According to Canacona police, the unidentified motorcyclist was riding a
two-wheeler towards Canacona, when he collided with an oncoming Tavera
car (KA-4 MC-1390) proceeding towards Karwar at a sharp turn along the
highway at Shellim in Loliem-Polem.
A police team rushed to the site and shifted the body to Hospicio at
Margao for an autopsy.
One accused of illegal slaughter
PONDA: Three persons from Khandepar have filed a police complaint
alleging illegal cattle slaughter and they have suspected the involvement of
a person from Usgao.
The complainant, Jayant Naik from Khandepar, along with two others from
Vaghurme-Ponda, claimed that cattle are being forcefully taken from the
village and are later sold to be slaughtered.
The cattle that are being taken by the accused are those that have been
released in the open by devotees as an offering to the goddess, stated the
complaint.
The complainants have accused one person from Usgao in this connection
for violating rules of prevention to cruelty to animals. Ponda police is
investigating the case.
Christmas activities in Bardez
TIVIM: Various programmes are being organised to celebrate Christmas
in different parts of Bardez taluka.
Most parishes have been conducting crib, star and carol singing contests,
while other parishes have been making unique cribs in the church
compounds to depict the spirit of Christmas.
In Badem parish of Assagao village the enthusiastic parishioners are
geared up to celebrate their second ‘Christmas village’ in the Church
compound. 
The Christmas village will be open for public viewing from December 26 to
29 and during the same time a Holy Bible used by St Vincent Pallotti will
also be kept for public veneration in the Church.
In Mapusa, the Mapusa Merchants Christmas Festival (MMCFT) will
organise Christmas activities in the Mapusa market.
“This year, as usual, we will hold our cultural programme in the market.
But unlike the earlier years where we used to bring tiatrs on all days, there
will be something different this year,” said MMCFT President Agnelo
Braganza.
“This year, there will be four tiatrs from the tiatr competition at Kala
Academy and there will be three Konkani films staged. “We will present
four tiatros and three Konkani films, Mariola by Joe Rose, Adeus Moga
by Bhushka and Apleam Bhurgeam Sangatak by DySP Mr Sammy
Tavares,” he informed. 
In Siolim, the village will be celebrating its third inter ward crib and star
competition during the Christmas week. A large crib has also been in the
Church premises.
at Sanguem
SANGUEM: Our Lady of Miracles Church Sanguem have organised
variety entertainment programmes in the Church compound to mark
Christmas celebrations at Sanguem.
The programmes include a crib presentation for alter-servers aged 15
years and below, followed by Carol Singing competition (December 25),
Family Day celebrations (December 26), Christmas for the sick and aged
(December 27), cultural programme followed by fellowship at the Chapel
level (December 28), sports programme (December 29) and a cultural
programme (December 30).
