Motorists inconvenienced due to haphazard parking at Junaswada-Mandrem

ARAMBOL: Due to haphazard parking by customers who visit a popular restaurant at Junaswada-Mandrem near the forest park, motorists travelling via this route face great inconvenience. Mandrem local Pravin Vaingankar has appealed to the police to take action against the violators.

“The tourism season is about to start and such indisciplined practices need to be brought under control. People, who come to the restaurant here, park their vehicles in a haphazard manner. This leads to congestion and on one occasion even an ambulances was stuck in the traffic,” he said.

“Police were informed about the ambulance being stuck in congestion but nobody showed up even after an hour. Thankfully, nothing happened to the patient,” said Vaingankar.

“Many hotels in coastal areas are too close to the roads. It’s baffling that the hotel owners were granted permissions to construct hotels without having parking facilities,” said local Aniket Mandrekar.

“Traffic police are always ready to penalise the motorists not wearing helmets or seat belts but will never take any action against bigger violators. They should fine the car owners parking their vehicles here and also question the hotel owners,” said another local.
