Motorists warned against intimidating traffic cops

PANJIM: Goa Traffic Police warned motorists to pay fine for traffic violations without intimidating the police personal, else severe action including filing of criminal case for obstructing public servant while performing official duties.

PANJIM: Goa Traffic Police warned motorists to pay fine for traffic violations without intimidating the police personal, else severe action including filing of criminal case for obstructing public servant while performing official duties. 
In a press statement on Sunday Superintendent of Police (Traffic) has said that criminal cases also will be filed if any violator stopped by traffic police started intimidating them. 
SP has advised the motorists to obey the traffic rules and when stopped by police for any violation to pay the fine. 
“Or else severe action including registration of criminal case for obstructing public servant in discharging his official duties, would be taken”, SP Traffic said.
The strong warning comes in the wake of the chief minister taking cognizance of a video clip that was circulating on the social media since two days. The chief minister has asked the Director General of Police to act against the violator who was influencing police on duty using the name of chief minister’s office. 
Following the instruction from the chief minister, the traffic police have taken cognizance of a video clip in which a motorist was trying to argue and throw names in order to escape traffic challan for tinted glasses, lane cutting, and dangerous driving. 
The person was later identified as Satish Bhanudas Tamankar, a resident of Oxel, Siolim-Bardez.  
Police said that he has now been prosecuted for traffic violation in this regards.
