VASCO: Moves are afoot to extend the famous Vasco Saptah by two days, following a petition by Mormugao Municipal Councillor Tara Kerkar and three licensed hawkers of Vasco Saptah fair in the High Court on Thursday.
Kerkar and the three hawkers claimed that the Saptah fair has always been organised for 10 days and added that it would be convenient for the devotees to visit Lord Damodar temple on August 9 and 10, being a Saturday and Sunday.
“It would also help the hawkers and traders to do better business as the Saptah festival is the only festival organised in Mormugao, other than Carnival for a few hours in March,” reasoned Kerkar.
After hearing the petition, the High Court observed that a request for extension to the Saptah fair should be considered .
