MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Sunday assured to provide additional MPLAD funds for installing more CCTV cameras in Margao.
Refurbished and restored CCTVs of Margao were re-commissioned on Sunday by Sardinha.
The MP said, “Safety and security of the people must be the first priority of any government. It is the responsibility of every elected representative to ensure that people in their constituencies always remain safe. I appreciate the efforts of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat who impressed upon me to sanction funds from MPLAD to install CCTV cameras in the town. I am happy to re-commission the ten cameras today and I commit to give more funds for the installation of another 50 cameras”.
He was speaking after re-commissioning almost ten cameras which were installed in Margao through MPLAD funds and had eventually become defunct due to lack of maintenance. The said cameras are now repaired and commissioned.
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat thanked the residents and shop owners who have voluntarily given electric connections to make the CCTVs functional.
He thanked South Goa MP for his commitment and appreciated the efforts of South Goa Collector Ajit Roy, SP South Pankaj Kumar Singh and Margao CO Agnelo Fernandes for expeditiously taking steps to re-install the cameras.
He lauded the efforts of Nupur Technology for their prompt action in repairing and re-commissioning the cameras.
South Goa Collector Ajit Roy said, “The law enforcing authorities will take every possible step to ensure the safety and security of citizens.”
“We appeal to people to co-operate with the police and follow laws of the land which will help in maintaining law and order,” he said.
