MARGAO: Urging to demolish the illegal structure constructed at the heritage site in Old Goa, South Goa Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha demanded that the State government come out with white paper on the issue immediately.
Addressing the media persons, the South Goa MP also said the people of Goa should know which MLA, minister and bureaucrats are involved in the illegalities with regard to the illegal structure, as he has also submitted the memorandum in this regard to the Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy.
“All those involved in the matter need to be exposed. The bureaucrats involved in issuing the permissions to illegal structures should be suspended. And people will surely suspend the politicians who are involved in the fraud,” he demanded.
Sardinha clarified that he did not raise the issue of Old Goa in zero hours at the Parliament but met the concerned Union minister and urged to act on the matter.
“The concerned Union minister has instructed the Director General of Archaeological Survey of India in this regard and that too in front of me,” the MP said.
The South Goa MP also urged the Union Minister Reddy, who is in Goa to visit the site at Old Goa in order to take stock of the issue.
“He will be able to know the facts of the issue and the wrong deeds of the State government,” he urged.
The MP further congratulated the people for initiating agitation against the illegal structure at Old Goa.
Sardinha demanded Rs 5 lakh compensation to the COVID victims who died because of shortage of oxygen.
Reacting to the issue of Omicron variant, he urged the government to keep vigil on the tourists or people entering Goa by road and railways, besides he demanded to scrap the double tracking of railways from Vasco to Majorda.
