MARGAO: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has offered to maintain the toilets at Margao Railway Station using Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) fund.
Sardinha made the offer after inspecting the station along with officials of the railways.
Directing KRC to ensure that passengers are provided clean and hygienic toilets at the station, he offered to provide aid under MPLAD fund to help the KRC in providing proper facilities to passengers.
Sardinha said that he had inspected railway station following various complaints about inadequate facilities.
On the occasion, he invited the KRC officials to share their hardships which, he said, he would discuss with the railway authorities who he is scheduled to meet later this month.
Admitting that the situation has changed for the better at the Margao railway station, he said that the officials have assured to implement the Margao Station beautification plan within the time frame.
Sardinha asked the officials to halt trains used by Goan passengers on platform No 1 and also to keep an eye on agents to ensure that locals can also purchase tickets at the counter.
