MP urges govt to plan well for COVID third wave

MARGAO: South Goa Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha has urged the government to do proper management to tackle the predicated third wave of COVID-19. 

He demanded that the vaccines should be given free of cost to all the citizens. 

Briefing the media persons at the South Goa Collector Administrative Complex, Sardinha said that the Central government has announced Rs 35,000 crore for the vaccination in the country. Hence, no one should be charged for the vaccine jabs. 

“We have witnessed the effect of the second wave of COVID, which has resulted in several deaths in Goa. One of the reasons was that the government was not prepared to tackle the Coronavirus. Shortage of medical facilities has proved that management from the government has failed completely,” he alleged. 

The South Goa MP said now at least the government needs to do proper management, as there are predictions of the third wave of Coronavirus. All the medical facilities need to be extended and expanded. The government should also need to take a review what gone wrong while tackling the present situation of COVID. 

He also appealed to the citizens to come forward and take the jabs, as vaccination is the only option to survive the deadly Coronavirus. 

“I urged the government to open more vaccination centres all over the State and for citizens,” he further appealed. 

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Member of Parliament held a review meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee.
