PANJIM: All three MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party, along with the Power Minister, were summoned to New Delhi for discussions on the resumption of mining operations in Goa.
The three MPs – AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, along with Power Minister Nilesh Cabral left for Delhi on Thursday.
Sources revealed they were to meet BJP National president Amit Shah for an urgent solution to the mining crisis. “The BJP is seized of the situation prevailing in mining areas and wants an immediate solution,” sources revealed.
The move comes after Goa Mining People’s Front met Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Suresh Prabhu and Ravishankar Prasad.
On Tuesday, alliance partner Vijai Sardesai had stated that the solution to the mining imbroglio has to come from the BJP which is in power in the State and the Centre. Sardesai had also met Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu seeking an immediate solution to the crisis.
