Margao: In the matter of the PIL filed by Sherwyn Correia and others against Goa State Control Board, Mormugao Port Trust, MoEF and others, the Advocate General informed the High Court that the reply of GSPCB is ready and will be filed this week.
However, the AG informed that the other respondents will file their reply by the next date.
Interestingly, the MoEF’s entry clerk had refused the service on the ground that the matter was fixed on the same returnable date. The court permitted the petitioners to serve the MoEF a private notice.
The Advocate General also informed that the reply from the Town and Country Planning Department may not be necessary.
The court decided that this aspect will be considered in the next hearing.
Sherwin along with other citizens of Mormugao had filed the PIL regarding the pollution caused by coal and other cargo handled at MPT.
The next hearing is scheduled for November 22.
