MARGAO: Employees of the Mormugao Steel Ltd (MSL) has sought the intervention of the government over the failure of the company to pay their salaries of the last three months.
Aggrieved workers called on Labour Minister, Avertano Furtado and requested his intervention and ensure that the workers get their due wages on time.
A worker Anthony Pereira told the media after meeting the Labour Minister that the company has not only failed to pay their wages, but has told them not to report for work.
The Labour Minister promised to talk to the company immediately and discuss the issue with the Chief Minister.
“I have assured the workers to talk to the management and ensure that their salaries are released immediately. All other issues will be resolved by the government at a joint meeting with the Chief Minister,” Avertano said.
