MARGAO:  Mud transportation from the Sonsodo waste dumping site was grounded for the second day on Thursday, even as the Margao Municipal Council and Fomento Green are bracing up to submit all documents and papers on Thursday to the district Collector on the hill cutting at the waste dumping site.
Upon his return from Mumbai, Fomento Green CEO Sridhar Kamat is believed to have spoken to MMC Chief Officer and has submitted the papers and permissions in respect of the hill cutting, which has been vehemently objected to the villagers of Raia.
Sources in the know said that the Margao Municipal Council  Chief Officer has informally briefed district Collector N D Agrawal and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sangeeta Naik and is expected to submit all permissions and documents relating to the hill cutting to the duo on Thursday.
When contacted, the Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Deepali Naik has said that the civic body would submit the permissions to the district Collector and the SDM tomorrow.
“We have all the requisite permissions for the hill cutting. The same will be submitted to the district Collector for perusal and to pass necessary orders”, she said.
The district Collector, when contacted, said that all questions over the hill cutting at Sonsodo falls within the domain of the Margao civic body, adding that his role is to tackle any law and order situation.
“If the Margao Municipal Council feels that it has the permission for hill cutting and want security for the mud transportation, my office would provide the security”, he said.
Meanwhile, mud transportation from the Sonsodo hillock to the Nuvem bypass lay suspended for the second day today pending verification of the permissions and other documents by the Margao Municipal Council.
